WAN-HIVE GHANA DISTRIBUTES OVER 800 FARM INPUTS TO 200 FEMALE FARMERS IN THE BONO REGION

WAN-Hive Ghana, in partnership with Kosmos Innovation Center, convened a one-day capacity-building training program for women in agribusiness in accordance to the pivotal role they play in ensuring food security in the Bono region.

The event aimed to strengthen a community of women entrepreneurs in agriculture, equipping them with the knowledge and resources necessary to thrive. To support these efforts, the program provided 200 women with essential Farm Inputs, including spraying machines, Wellington boots, Weedicides, and Seedlings

The program, graced by Traditional Authorities, Assembly Members, Public and Private sector representatives, MOFA Officers, and representatives from Kosmos Innovation Centre, commenced with opening remarks from CEO of WAN-Hive Ghana, Ms. Janat Issifu. In her address she emphasized WAN-Hive Ghana’s unwavering commitment to empowering women in agriculture as the cornerstone of Ghana’s food security. Mercy Tuffour, the Gender Lead at Kosmos Innovation Center highlighted the program’s aim to equip women for self-sufficiency and expressed the organization’s dedication to supporting these farmers.

Diving into the Capacity building session, Madam Philipa Mensah from Social Protection and Human Rights World Food Forum educated the women on sustainable farming practices which was followed with a training on Food Security Strategies by Felicia Asabea Boadu from WIAD Regional Office discussed. Francisca Nana Ama Asiedu, a serial entrepreneur concluded the training with a session on branding and marketing agricultural products.

WAN-Hive Ghana remains committed to supporting women in agriculture hence robust monitoring and evaluation structures are in place to track the progress of the beneficiaries and measure the impact of the support provided. By fostering a thriving community of women agribusiness entrepreneurs, WAN-Hive Ghana contributes significantly to Ghana’s agricultural landscape and food security goals

As part of WAN-Hive Ghana’s initiative to formalize women’s businesses, seven business registration certificates were presented to beneficiaries for free.
